I bought a French Bulldog, who I named Miko, from Gwen a year ago. The reasons that I purchased the puppy from her was the knowledge and exuberance that she showed in the French Bulldog breed. You see, Gwen is not your typical breeder. She keeps all of her animals like pets. All of her dogs are well socialized and well behaved. That's all they want a person to do, as Gwen would say "love them up". I was very impressed with the way she conducts interviews with all of her potential puppy owners. She has been there every time I have had a question just would just help me through the steps including potting training. I was so impressed with the kennels that I bought another puppy from her a month later. His name is Brooklyn. Hands down I would recommend you to go visit her, see her kennels, and buy a puppy.

Leina Ohara, NYC

When I embarked on a search for a play mate for my frenchy Butch, I started looking at every breeder on the Internet that is on the East coast (I live in NYC) since I didn't want the dog to travel too long. I was looking for a perfect frenchy since Butch was already perfect (in my eyes :)) in every way and I needed a pup to match his laid back temperament and sweet nature. Upon research, NY didn't have very many choices in breeders, and it was hard to tell one site from the other in terms of who was a good breeder vs. not. I contacted about 5 or 6 and none of them really felt right - until I stumbled upon Gwen's Happy Kennels site. Immediately I was impressed by Jimmy's look, and upon reading further, Gwen's care for her animals. When I contacted Gwen regarding the pups I saw on the site, she was responsive, informative, but also I could tell she was making sure that I would be a good owner for her pup. Over the weeks while deciding on the pup, she gave me all the information (and more) that I needed to make the right choice in terms of temperament, what to expect, which one was right for me. It's hard enough to choose an animal without meeting him/her, but Gwen does have a gift in describing each one of her dogs' character. She also gave me tons of info about the parents so I would know what the pup may act/look like when he/she got older. I am now a proud owner of Lulu (aka Boo) who is the best animal in every way - temperament, looks, and health. Butch now has her BFF and my entire family could not be happier with Lulu. Gwen hand delivered Lulu and I can tell that she wanted to part immediately since she was going to miss Boo so much. Gwen really cares for each and everyone of her animals and will make sure that they get the RIGHT owners. If I ever have a question, I know I can always count on Gwen to guide me via email or phone, no matter how old Lulu gets to be. If I every get another frenchy, I will not buy one from anyone else but Gwen as long as she is still breeding Frenchies!!!

Dear Gwen, I wanted you to know how much I appreciate all the effort you focused on breeding and home training for our newest family member. I believe this is all apparent the moment anybody meets our wonderful new puppy. She is an absolute joy. In all of my many years of having dogs be a member of my family I have never meet such a happy puppy... you certainly named your business appropriately. I like the temperament , intelligence, and beauty are all a direct result of your hard work. For my family, any future puppy purchase will definitely be made at Happy Kennels... personally I can't imagine why anybody would buy a puppy anywhere else!

With Best Wishes

Mary Keane, CT

My name is Mary Keane. I contacted Gwen at Happy Kennels last year while searching for a puppy dog. She had some puppies and I asked if she would ship one to me. Thank goodness she knew the risk of shipping dogs, and she said she would not be comfortable shipping one of her puppies and she would figure something out. Well Gwen went out of her way (thousands of miles out of her way to safely get my Sweetie Petie to me). Talking to her on the phone and in emails, I could tell she loves deeply cares for her dogs, but meeting her in person and seeing how much she was going to miss Petie it was certain I picked the best breeder.

Dru Charleston, SC

I had been looking for a Frenchie for a few years in the newspaper and on-line. Not wanting to contribute unknowingly to a the puppy mill business I was somewhat skeptical initially when I found Happy Kennels. Gwen Styers immediately alleviated any fears I had over the phone that she uses for business of breeding Frenchies for the purpose of making a living. She seemed more concerned with her Baby Hucks was going to a good home with an owner that understands the breed, then she just finding a way to sell him. I quickly realized that I was being interviewed to see if I I was a "qualified" mom to her pup. I traveled from South Carolina to pick up Hucks and I was met at the door by the sweetest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I'm still amazed by the fact that Gwen has LOTS of well trained dogs that you would never know she had animals (unless of course you're greeted by them at the door) because her home, yard, and kennel area are PRISTINE. She is meticulous about keeping her pups healthy, ans social, well-adjusted and loving her puppies her are when you bring them home. It is an extraordinary skills as a breeder and the fact that her puppies are HAND-RAISED with lost of love and attention. I was hooked immediately and recently purchased another pup from Happy Kennels I bough Rudy so that Hucks would have a playmate for life. Hucks and Rudy are true best-friends in life. They do everything together. Where there is one.. you can always expect the other one. It's a joy to watch their shenanigans. Never a dull moment and I wouldn't want it any other way. I wouldn't think of buying any other breed but a French Bulldog and as long as Gwen Styers is breeding Frenchies, she'll always have my business!!!
