if you are able to identify a knowledgeable French bulldog breeder that is willing to help you in your search and selection. Not withstanding your friend’s help, it is advisable
you learn a few things about French bulldogs to make an informed decision when setting out to buy a French bulldog.
Please know that French bulldogs are smart companions, but may
not be for everyone. They can be forceful, difficult to housebreak, rough with young children, and require an owner willing
to treat them with understanding.
Many of these French bulldog
physical features can be seen in photos that are ubiquitously available. There are also videos a prospective buyer can see
to know how the new puppy acts and behaves. But the puppy will have certain features that you can best know only by asking
the breeder specific questions. You should ensure that whatever breeder you choose, they should provide answers to all questions
about the available puppies and their parents.
Make sure that the French Bulldog's head is fairly big
and flat, eyes are dark and well-set below in the skull and situated wide apart. The skull should be flat between the ears,
and the forehead somewhat rounded. The ears should look like bat ears, long and keenly attentive. Some puppies ears may
not erect and standing But that is because some puppies take longer to develop strong enough ear. This need not be construed
as a negative factor.
The puppy you buy should look and compact with a short back and the legs should
also be short and stocky. The spine and the legs should be about the same length with a deep chest, the puppy looking like
a square look. Contact and view puppies from as many different breeders as you can before making your final choice.
Further, French Bull dog's coat should be appealingly smooth though most of them are not long
haired. French bulldog puppies are available in different colors – brindle, black, dull white, beige, chocolate brown and white with spots.
You can certainly choose the color you fancy most.
Many are keen to know the gender of the French
Bull dog. Many favor the male puppies as they are more active and playful and at times even aggressive. The males
are also considered by many as better looking and more easily acceptable as pets. French bulldogs are well-behaved, adaptable,
and very friendly companions with an affectionate disposition.
Be absolutely sure that the puppy
you intend purchasing did not come from an import broker. An import broker is one who instead of personally
breeding dogs, purchases them in wholesale lots from bulk breeders mostly from Eastern European countries.
Puppies
generally come with a booklet containing health tips, nutritional information, pedigrees, coupons for food and other relevant
information. Make sure that you research the breed thoroughly before you buy avoiding an impulsive purchase. Demand from
the breeder the registration papers, health records and pedigree records. Most breeders have a micro chip inserted into
the puppy very early on and this helps to trace puppies / dogs that are lost or stolen.
